Tournament Beneficiary
In 2025, JKTT is excited to partner with Mama Bear, an organization dedicated to making a positive impact in the community and supporting families with children with cancer.

To support Mama Bear and their work, the tournament committee hosted a special awards ceremony at Park Terrace on March 3rd, 2025, where we presented Mama Bear with a $1,000 donation. Local businesses and volunteers that have contributed to the event over the years took part in the ceremony, celebrating the power of community-driven philanthropy.

Recent Press Coverage

JKTT and FITT Foundation History

Since its inception, JKTT has raised and donated over $50,000 to non-profit organizations, including the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The tournament has also actively supported local high school tennis programs, providing funding, tennis balls, and equipment to Sacramento High Schools such as West Campus, River City, Kennedy, and CK McClatchy. This commitment to growing the sport at the grassroots level continues to be a key pillar of the event’s mission.

The tournament and supporting foundation were formed in 2017 in memory of Jimm Kvarme, a beloved junior tennis player and swimmer from the Park Terrace community who passed away prematurely from cancer. The Park Terrace tennis community came together to honor his memory and raise money and awareness for cancer treatment. Jimmy’s passing reminds us that it could happen to any of our children and that it is our collective responsibility to seek cures.

The Tournament

Each year, JKTT brings together talented players from across the country, with past participants traveling from as far as Georgia, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and San Jose. The tournament has consistently had around 100 players participate across various levels and categories of competition. The 2025 tournament promises to be another exciting and competitive event, uniting players, sponsors, and supporters in the spirit of sportsmanship and charitable giving.

The JKTT is a USTA-Sanctioned tournament offering competitors ranking points, prizes, and a fun, family-friendly environment. Due to our tournament’s popularity and exceptional player evaluation feedback scores, we have been awarded Northern California Gold Cup status for the last 4 years running. Players playing in NTRP Gold Cup Series Tournaments earn Level 4 ranking points. The winner of each NTRP division also receives a special USTA NorCal logo

item commemorating their win. Each year, only 6 NTRP tournaments per region are designated as NTRP Gold Cup Series Tournaments.

In 2024 the tournament was played at two locations and included over 100 men and women who completed in singles, doubles and mixed doubles draws. Draws were held for USAT levels 3.0-5.0 for each playing category.
